Math Faculty, Dr. Zorayda Augus, Ph.D.

Meet Dr. Zorayda Agus, a dedicated and passionate educator with over 25 years of experience teaching mathematics, science, technology, and engineering (STEM). She is dedicated to creating a lively and engaging classroom where students can discover their interests and excel in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in BS Industrial Engineering. With two master’s degrees (M.Ed. in Mathematics Education and MS in Industrial Engineering), she is a lifelong learner. The proof is that she recently received her doctorate (Doctor of Philosophy in Education, major in Educational Management), giving a powerful message that education is a continuous process, for it enriches.

Mrs. Agus, as she was called by many of her students, is dual certified by the Arizona Department of Education for teaching Mathematics and 2) Career & Technical Education (Emerging Technologies). She used to teach professional industrial engineering courses at a private university in the Philippines, where she was born and raised. Just this year, her Robotics team, with the Robotics coach, won the top three awards. This event was held at Dine College, leading their team to the state championship for the First Tech Challenge in Arizona. In a male dominated career, she also thrived.

Dr. Agus is a registered member of both academic and professional organizations- the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE), Career & Technical Education (CTE), and the International Leadership Association (ILA). She has multiple careers and varied experiences in the industry and academia. Recently, she participated in the National Endowment for Humanities project: “We, The People- Migrant
of America,” and presented her research at the conference in Anaheim Convention, Anaheim, California.

When Mrs. Agus is not in the classroom, she is a proud mom of three daughters who have recently graduated from college with honors—an achievement that fills her with pride and joy! She also loves to cook for her family. She shares a love for the great outdoors with her husband, Simon. Together, they enjoy exploring nature and challenging themselves on new adventures. She is also an active officer in the Iglesia ni Cristo (Church of Christ). She always participates in
the church administration’s programs and activities and volunteers in the Felix Y. Manalo Foundations’ Care for Humanity & INC Giving outreach program – to show love and care for the community and to redound honor and glory to the Almighty God.

Dr. Agus loves to teach. She is excited to continue her journey in education and looks forward to positively impacting her students’ lives.
