Rachael M. Kenton is an enrolled Tribal Member from the Peridot District. She is happily married and a mother of three children. Her educational journey was with Eastern Arizona College (EAC) in Thatcher, and she committed to traveling for her education. In 2008, she graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies. Then she received her second Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education in 2012.
In 2017, she graduated from Arizona State University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies and a minor in Early Childhood Education.
She is currently working towards her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Northern Arizona University and is in her final year in their Higher Education/Community College degree program, having completed six of the ten courses. Her long term educational goal is to obtain a doctorate degree in Education.
Her job title is Registrar/ Student Success Initiatives Coordinator at the San Carlos Apache College. She assists with admissions and records, helping new and returning students to register for classes and advising on what courses will fit their degree checklists. Her other role is Student Success Coordinator, where she assists the Student Services Director in helping and guiding students in the right direction to help them complete their degrees and earn their diplomas. Their plan is to ensure a quality education so that students can join the workforce or continue to earn a bachelor’s degree at any universities in Arizona.
One major benefit about San Carlos Apache College that Rachael loves to highlight is that higher education is now local. You can avoid traveling to get general education requirements completed. She had to dedicate her time to traveling to EAC from Bylas and sometimes from Peridot for two years.
Michael Altshuler once said, “The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.” Never waste a minute of your day; each moment is as unique as the last (Fralick, 2018. College & career success. Kendall/Hunt Pub.).
Rachael encourages all of our current and prospective students to take action on your education journey in order to be successful in your career future. She looks forward to watching your success become a reality.
